Showcased by a Jack
Nicklaus designed course, Bear Trace, Tennessee Moutain
Golf is
stacked with six solid courses within about a 2 mile range of each
other and even has 2 less than solid courses for those drunken
afternoon rounds of best ball and team play.
Speaking of drinking, I'm not sure how it is in your area but in
Tennessee you can get a six pack of tall boys for about $10 with cooler
(as loner only) and ice.
At my home course in Ontario, it costs about $7 just for one tall boy
and you don't get ice or a cooler.
Back to the golf, I recommend hitting Bear Trace up in the morning as
the course is situated in a state park and there is no alcohol sold
there.
The course is a A
to A+ ranking in all areas except their restaurant which had
a pretty sad selection.
The Heatherhurst Crag and Brae courses were all kinds of fun and
enjoyable. The course ratings I would say were more of a A
to B range for these courses.
Stonehenge was another course which really lived up to the "Mountain
golf" name.
In terms of night life, there didn't seem to be a whole lot going on
other than some good southern cooked food.
After 36 holes a day we didn't have a whole lot of energy to do much
other than drink or eat anyway. Yes we played all 36 holes individually.
For accomodation, the Mountain Golf people hook you up with some nice 3
bedroom condos with pull out couch, so you could sleep 8.
The price is so reasonable that I wouldn't recommend having anymore
than 4 to a condo as you will need your sleep.
The additional afternoon rounds cost very little extra as the golf is
pretty inexpensive. To maximize your dollar, play either the same
course morning and afternoon or play Heatherhurst course back to back
as the "replay" rates are insanely cheap.
Oh Ya, did I mention the courses are open all year round? A major perk
for Canadians like me!
