The price to play National Pines is very reasonable for what you get.
Prime time rate is $100 which includes your range balls. This price
range falls into the B rating category but for a great Thomas McBroom
design golf course, this is really a great deal.
The difficulty for this course was "difficult but fair". The length of
the course creates some difficulty however the course also gets fairly
tight in spots so the course is quite challenging. The course makes you
carry the ball to the greens on occasion due to the excellent bunker
protection or water making the course play that much longer. I think an
A rating for this course is right for difficulty.
National Pines golf club is a beautifully decorated course that
features many of mature trees and plenty of water throughout. If that
is not enough the course also contains beautiful bunkers and some
serious wildlife including some "pet" foxes. This course is deserving of
an A rating for scenery.
The green conditions at National Pines were excellent. The greens were
quick and very smooth and true. The greens were also very receptive and
held shots well. I have to give the greens an A+ rating as they were
perfect to play.
Fairway conditions were excellent at National Pines Golf Club and
almost an A+
level in my opinion except for some repair
areas. They were pretty well trimmed and there weren't many
divots. I think an A rating for these fairways is appropriate.
The National Pines clubhouse is a little small and dated looking
inside. They have a
full but limited restaurant, locker room, pro shop and a great patio. I
think a B rating is right for this area.
The layout was excellent. The course makes great use of water,
elevation, sand, and a lot of trees to protect the course. The course
really is carved nicely into the terrain and each hole flows nicely to
the next. The layout makes a grade of A in this category and what else
would you expect from a Thomas McBroom design.
National Pines is a Clublink Ontario course found near Barrie Ontario,
north of Toronto off HWY 400.
