Glen Abbey Golf Club is an incredible course
making for an enjoyable round despite spotty weather. Really not a bad
value for the money considering the total experience you get.

Glen Abbey prime time rate is listed as $165 including range and cart
which is mandatory. This price range falls into the C rating category
however considering this course has hosted 25 Canadian Open PGA
tournaments, I don't think it is too bad of a value. I would suggest
trying to go during the "opportunity" times since rates are less.
The difficulty for this course was difficult but fair mainly since the
course was fairly wet which made the greens not too fast and receptive
to long iron shots. Keep in mind this course won't be set up like it
would for an open so the rough was cut down a fair bit and the pin
placements were reasonable. An "A" rating is right
for this area given the current set up.
Being situated in Southern Ontario, Glen Abbey Golf Club really doesn't
have a lot of mountainous scenery to work around but I'd have to say
that the course itself is a work of art. Decorated beautifully with
well shaped bunkers and some water, the trees and elevation here and
there make the course flow perfectly together. This course is
deserving of an A+ rating for scenery.
The green conditions were excellent. They were smooth and true and very
receptive to short and long shots. I have to give the greens an A+
rating as they were the definition of my A+ rating system.
Fairway conditions were also excellent. I don't think I've seen
fairways as consistently cut as the fairways at Glen Abbey, they were
terrific. I think a A+ rating for these fairways is appropriate.
The clubhouse had everything that Station Creek and Bond Head courses
have however Glen Abbey Golf did provide that wow factor I had
complained was lack in the other courses. This clubhouse is an A+ in my
opinion.
The restaurant was very nice and the staff were very friendly. The only
thing I didn't really like was the menu was that was probably
since it had so many fish and seafood dishes without my pub classics.
A+ rating it is.
The layout was simply awesome. I wouldn't change a thing about this
course layout however I think the course needs to be played from the
tips (back tees) to get the full effect.
As mentioned early this course was well put together with great flow.
The course designer, some guy named Jack Nicklaus, really did a great
job working with the natural lay of the land. Of course the rating for
this course is an A+.
Glen Abbey Golf Course is a Club Link course found in Oakville Ontario, just west of Toronto.
