With the Amateur Championship in full swing at Chambers Bay in Tacoma, Washington, I figured it was a great time to write a review about my experience playing this course a few months back.

I was fortunate to grab a tee-time on a Saturday with no rain (difficult in the Pacific Northwest) and with a slight overcast the weather was just about perfect for a round of golf.

I would have to say that Chambers Bay is one of the better courses I have ever played. There are quite a few decent courses in the Seattle area, but this one really does take the cake (Although Sahalle is not to shabby.)

The first thing that grabs you are the breathtaking views. On almost every hole, you have a great view of the water. This is pretty unusual for the area, since the waterfront land carries quite a premium.

The course is "walk only," so it is not for the faint of heart. If walking while carrying (or pushing) your golf bag sounds like a lot of work for you, I would recommend hiring a caddy. My friend and I opted out of the caddy, but the two gentlemen we played with hired one. After the round they told us that the inside knowledge of the course that the caddy provided for them was well worth the cost. Not to mention they carried their bags.

Another unexpected feature of the course was the staff. It is not often you come across a golf course staff at a nice course that is not friendly, but this team seemed to be top notch in my experience. Since the course is relatively new, a lot of the people still have that pep in their step. Not to mention they all wore hats, badges, and pins that reminded you the 2010 Amateur Championship was coming soon.

Overall, Chambers Bay is one of the best courses that I have played. I cannot wait to watch the Amateur Open and be able to say I played that course.
