Overall the Taylormade R9 Super TRI is
a great driver but the price is a
bit much as with the Callaway FT Tour I reviewed earlier. The club
performs well but it is very similar to the Cobra brand of drivers
which are a lot less money right now.

The current price of this Taylormade driver is $450 at Golf
Town which is not great value since I didn't find this club much
different at all from the other drivers I've been testing out. I'd wait
for this one to go on sale. This driver falls into the high end of the
C rating category.
The distance on this driver was good. I felt
like I was consistently getting 10 more yards per drive but nothing
more than the other newer drivers out there. I rate this driver a B for
distance.
The
feel of this Taylormade R9 driver was very good. For almost
$500
you had better get a great feeling when you hit it. I give this driver
an A rating for this area.
The forgiveness for this driver was
great. With a head size of 460cc and a lower centre of gravity, this
club was bound to be forgiving. Impacts towards the toe and heel didn't
seem to translate into much loss of distance and even balls hit on the
upper face of the club still got pretty good carry. I give this driver
an A for forgiveness.
The weight of driver was perfect. This
driver was perfectly weighted and balanced and it lead to nice smooth
flowing swing. This driver is definately in the A class for this
criteria.
Described as "Great-looking "black-on-black"
clubhead and clubface" the look of this driver does not disappoint and
even at the price you still want one. Better yet when you stand over
this baby you just feel confident and know you are going to crush your
drive. I give this club an A rating for looks.
